Check out the opening theme of one of my all time fave cartoons. although it might not hold up to the test of time like other classic cartoons, I had tons of good memories about this series and the comics from where it originated. Enjoy!

True Blood, tastes like the real thing.
True Blood is a show about what would happen if vampires would come out of hiding and try to integrate into humanity as just a another race. This came about as a blood substitute, "True blood", was created in Japan and this allowed the vampires to survive without having to feed of humans. The show tackles the prejudices on both sides as well as the rising tensions as both vampire and humans are forced to integrate and deal with each others presence.
Love evolves between Sooki Stackhouse the main protagonist of the show and Bill Compton a 173 year old Vampire who has embraced the new way of life living in peace with humans. After you get over the redneck hill billy town setting and accents, this show is really fun to watch. You get great acting from Anna Paquin, tons of nude scenes, and a lot of vampire horror. If they add a some hot cars then this would be every adolocent guys dream.
My only complaint is that some of the character screen times, like the focus on the life an back story of Sooki's annoying bad tempered best friend, seems totally unnecessary. They should focus on the story of just a few of the charachters because as in any ensemble cast, not everyone is interesting. I deal with enough a$$holes in my everyday life and seing a major one on my tv isnt really appealing.
All in all, true blood hits the spot. Its more realistic than twilight, and without the camp factor of buffy. It has already been HBO's third most watched series next to "Sex and the City" and "The Sopranos". Try it for a taste of something new, you just might get addicted to the taste of True Blood.

Twilight ...I prefer Moonlight
I recently watched Twilight in our local cinema. I haven't read the book and just saw an ad about it in the TV. Being a horror/supernatural geek, I naturally was one of the first in line to watch this movie. Boy was I in for a disappointment. The movie seemed to be like a long made for TV special that tried to woo tweens. The vampires looked too feminine and I have no idea why the girls are swooning over them. Sitting in the theater I couldn't help but think that Blade or Buffy would take down this posers in about 5 minutes, no sweat! I just wanted their to be more bite to match the bark. The media has been promoting this movie like crazy and I felt that the movie did not live up to the hype.
The only part of the movie that I found entertaining was the vampire baseball scene. They could only play during thunderstorms to mask the noise they made when they struck the balls. It Sort of reminded me of Smallville in a way, with Clark having to deal with sports and everyday things at the same time trying to keep his identity secret.
All in all this movie was ok, but not great. I would recommend this for those who want a different kind of vampire movie and those who are fans of the books. 6 out of 10 stars for me. Should you want your vampire dish served up a different way, try Moonlight,True Blood, or Blood Ties.

Birds Of Prey
The Birds of Prey Complete Season 1 Dvd has been released in the U.S. Although it consists of only 13 episodes, this show had a lot of untapped potential that was only waiting to be discovered.
The basic premise of the show is that batmans war on crime finally came full circle as the villains got their revenge. Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) was shot by the Joker and is now wheelchair bound. Selina Kyle (Catwoman), Batmans one true love and mother of their child (Helina Kyle) was stabbed and killed by Clayface. As a result of this Bruce Wayne leaves Gotham, and instructs Alfred to look over Helina and Barbara. Inspite of their tragic pasts, Barbara and Helina work together to protect New Gotham from criminal elements just like Batman did several years ago.
This series started to pick up a lot of steam near the end. The final battle in the clock tower Against Harley Quinn was the series highlight. Mia Sara who portrayed Harley, did a spectacular job, and should be considered to reprise her role should Harley appear in the upcoming 3rd Batman movie. If your a Batman fan, dont miss this show.

Samantha Who?!?
Samantha Who? Exactly my thought when i first heard of this show. It just so happened I finished most of my new DVD purchases and had nothing to do one night so Samantha who it was.
Samantha, a woman who just awoke from a coma, has amnesia. She must rediscover who she is, her likes and dislikes, and why almost everybody hates her. She learns that she lead a very mean and selfish life, and that she now has the chance to change herself and live life to the fullest.... Although this may sound like a snore fest on paper, Christina Applegate delivers a witty and charming performance making this show, a part of you must see TV.

At about 30 mins an episode, this show is loaded with fun, humor, and twists galore. I'm not a big comedy fan as i dont laugh easily, but I recommend this show whole hartedly. Check out the DVD which has just been released and the second season coming out soon.

Saving Grace
Saving Grace is a show about a disfunctional, heavy drinking, strong willed independent woman who is on a road to self destruction. Grace Hanadarko the main character of the show is played by Holly Hunter, is a long time cop who has experienced a lot in her time with the loss of her father in the Oklahoma city bombing and her being attacked by a psychotic killer who hates whores. She is unlike any character currently on TV as she walks her own path, always on the edge of becoming unlikeable because of her actions IE; stealing evidence, braking into private buildings, sleeping with almost any guy who gives her the time of day. Still, she always winds up redeems herself and reminds the us that life is not as straight a path as we would like it to be, but in fact a series of zigzags that we need to maneuver. Grace is helped out by an Angel named Earl who claims that God has a big planwhich involves Grace. Earl is trying to get Grace to change her life and get out of the downward spiral she is currently on. Although this show is not for everybody, try to catch an episode, you might be see yourself getting entertained, surprised and irritated by the character, but still get hooked to one of the more original shows out there today.

Veronica Mars
Veronica Mars. The greatest show on television you probably never watched. Its a teenage drama about a girl who is also a part time detective ala Nancy Drew. It only lasted 3 seasons but was praised by well known pop icons like kevin smith, josh whedon and others.
Veronica solves different mysteries ranging from practical jokes, murders, theft, and even rape. She also goes through her own personal trials and tribulations along the way such as dealing with cheating boyfriends, being drugged then raped, and being thrown in jail.
The show is well written and injects a mix of humor, sarcasm, and social commentary. The chemistry between the actors and the overall who done it feel really draws the viewers into the series. Although the series is available here via reruns, you may want to try your local pirater as the episodes are best viewed one after another as the race to solve the mysteries intensifies. Admittedly i always changed the channel when a teen drama like gilmore girls or the OC was on, but thank the heavens that I started watching VM, it turned out to be one of my all time faves.
